White Rock, BC – A second stabbing in three days has shaken the seaside community of White Rock, leaving one man dead and another injured.
The latest incident occurred Tuesday evening near the White Rock Pier. Police received reports of a man suffering from stab wounds at 9:26 pm. Despite first responders’ efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
This attack follows another stabbing on Sunday where a 28-year-old man was injured near the pier. Both victims were approached by a suspect described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a hat and a grey hoodie.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the lead in investigating the fatal stabbing, working alongside White Rock RCMP. The area surrounding the crime scene has been cordoned off while investigators gather evidence.
Police are yet to confirm whether the two stabbings are connected.
“This level of violence is unusual for White Rock,” said White Rock RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sgt. Rob Dixon. “We have experienced investigators working diligently to identify the suspect.”
In response to these violent acts, RCMP has increased patrols in the waterfront area.
“We understand these incidents have caused concern about safety,” Staff Sgt. Dixon added. “The safety of our community is our top priority.”
