Next week, residents of the Lower Mainland may need to prepare for another blast of cold air, potentially necessitating the retrieval of heavy jackets. Despite the relatively warm February experienced so far, characterized by the emergence of crocuses and other bulbs, winter is not yet ready to bid farewell.
Meteorologist Michael Kuss from CityNews warns that a shift in weather patterns could bring about snowfall in the upcoming week. Presently, mild conditions prevail; however, a return to wintry weather is anticipated for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Kuss elaborates that both coastal areas and higher elevations are likely to experience a mix of rain and snow. This anticipated weather phenomenon is attributed to a convergence of cold Arctic air and Pacific moisture. Nevertheless, the extent of its impact hinges on the extent to which the cold air penetrates inland.
The heaviest accumulations of snowfall are forecasted to be concentrated inland, particularly towards the Fraser Valley. Despite this, precise estimations regarding the volume of snowfall remain uncertain at this juncture.
