Vancouver, British Columbia – The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will take to the skies above Vancouver tonight, performing a flyover before the puck drops for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs’ second-round matchup between the Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Royal Canadian Air Force confirmed the flyover will happen shortly after 7:00 p.m. PT, thrilling fans as they enter Rogers Arena. The Snowbirds will maintain a safe distance, flying no lower than 500 feet over the arena.
“The air force is proud to join in national sporting events with flybys,” said Public Affairs Officer David Lavallee in a statement.
This comes as the Canucks look to capitalize on their momentum after a dramatic comeback victory in Game 1. They clawed their way back from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the Oilers 5-4 on Wednesday.
With the series tied 1-1, all eyes will be on tonight’s game as both teams battle for a crucial advantage.
